MySQL stands for My + (SQL) Structured Query Language

MySQL is named after co-founder Monty Widenius's daughter, My.

At starting of MySQL was named is mSQL, where it used to connect tables to routines, it was not good at speed, so the founder started more brainstorming and made a more flexible API that use mSQL as a base and which is called MySQL.
Michael Widenius and David Axmark are founders of mSQL which is now MySQL.
in mSQL is stand for m + SQL, Where m is again the first word of Michael Widenius's daughter,My.
in MySQL also stand for My+SQL, in which the "My" word is the name of Michael Widenius's daughter, My .
